About Khalil

I am a rising sixth-year Ph.D. candidate at the University of California – Davis. I am a proud member of both the Population Biology graduate group and the Wainwright Lab under Dr. Peter Wainwright.

I am broadly interested in how animals adapt to novel ecological challenges with the ultimate goal of better understanding the dynamics that govern adaptive radiations and species introductions.

My work primarily focuses on linking functional morphology, performance and kinematics to diet and diversification in the feeding apparatus of neotropical cichlids.

I also host a YouTube channel dedicated to sharing my fishkeeping hobby and science communication with the public.
