Equally as important as good, thorough science is good, thorough science communication. “Aquatic Constellations” is a science communication film about the first chapter of my dissertation. It aims to describe the central method, motivation, and intended outcome of my research. It was also meant to capture the impressive diversity and aesthetic charm of freshwater fishes. I hope audiences enjoy watching this film as much as I enjoyed making it!
YouTube
Before I was making science communication short films, I hosted a YouTube channel dedicated to fishkeeping…
I post films across a range of topics. Below is one of my “Species Spotlights”, detailing one of my favorite cichlid fish species.
“What’s up YouTube! It’s me again, your friendly neighborhood fishkeeper, and today I wanted to talk about…”
I started the channel in middle school. As a graduate student, it’s a great way to take a break from work at the end of the day without ever truly taking my mind off of my fish. My goals are to invite non-fish-keepers into the hobby, to deepen the understanding, fascination, and passion of the beginner fish-keeper, and to turn the seasoned fish-keeper into a fish scientist. My content consists of how-to videos, videos explaining the science behind aquarium-related phenomena, and (of course) videos showcasing the breathtaking beauty of the aquarium world. Feel free to check it out, and if you like what you see, subscribe! I am also always looking for constructive comments to improve the channel, so those are welcome as well!
In advance, my closing tagline: Tanks for watching, tank on, and take care!
